In Part 1, I explored the connection between mouth breathing and low tongue posture. Often, individuals who breathe through their mouths adapt by developing a forward head posture. By tilting the head forward, they can physically open the airway, making breathing easier.

However, over time poor posture can affect the alignment of the neck and head, putting further strain on the jaw and surrounding muscles. Posture and TMJ Disorders can be directly related. When the head moves just 2 inches forward out of alignment, it can exert an extra 20 pounds of pressure on the neck, ouch.

This combination of factors can lead to increased discomfort and worsen symptoms associated with TMJ disorders. If any of these symptoms resonate with you, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. It is never too late to reduce pain and improve breathing.

For more information on posture and TMJ watch Dr. Priya Mistry's video.
