Mouth breathing and poor posture can exacerbate symptoms of TMJ disorders for several reasons. When individuals breathe through their mouths, it can lead to improper tongue positioning and altered muscle function in the jaw and face. This can create imbalances that contribute to tension and pain in the jaw joint.
It's important to assess your own breathing habits. Can you breathe comfortably through your nose? Do you often find your mouth open? If so, myofunctional therapy may be an effective solution to address these issues and improve muscle function.
