Myofunctional Therapy FAQ's
01
What Information will I receive from my consultation?
A consultation will help you determine if myofunctional therapy is the right fit for you. We’ll discuss how the therapy works and what is needed for successful outcomes. You can choose to start with the consultation or dive straight into therapy.
02
Do I need a comprehensive examination to pursue therapy?
Yes, our examination is conducted online through our HIPAA-compliant platform and lasts approximately 90 minutes. This comprehensive exam provides your therapist with all the information needed to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals.

During the assessment, we will evaluate your degree of tongue tie, assess your current tongue posture, and analyze common complications of orofacial dysfunction, including sleep-disordered breathing, facial development, airway health, speech issues, and bruxism (teeth grinding).
03
How much does therapy cost?
Therapy program prices vary based on your specific concerns, typically ranging from $1,099 to $1,599.

A non-refundable payment of $495 is required before starting therapy. This fee covers your first five sessions as well as your patient kit.

Progress will be re-evaluated every fifth appointment, and therapy is billed in advance for each set of five sessions needed.
04
Will therapy be covered by my insurance plan?
Myo Minded operates as a fee for service company and will not bill insurance directly.
I will, however, provide a superbill than can be submitted directly to your insurance by request of our patients or their guardians. Myofunctional therapy may be covered under your medical insurance but is generally not covered well.
05
Can I use my HSA or FSA for therapy?
Absolutely! Both Health Savings Accounts or Flex Spending Accounts are acceptable forms of payment for therapy.
06
What is the average length of time to complete therapy?
Most custom therapy programs will be completed by 10-15 sessions or 6-8 months.
We like to see our patients every 2 weeks for 30-60 minutes.
07
What can I expect from remote therapy?
All appointments are virtual through a HIPAA compliant patient portal called Simplepractice.com. You will receive an invitation email to set up your portal and complete any documentation requested.
The portal can be accessed through a computer or an app available on Android and Apple devices. A camera is required for each session. A hands free camera is highly recommended. You can access all documents, appointment notes and ask questions via this portal. Recorded video appointments are also available, upon request.
08
What is a patient kit?
Prior to starting our first therapy session, you will be mailed a patient kit. Your kit contains all the materials needed for you to complete any exercise learned in therapy.

It is vital that each time you have a session, you have your kit available. We will review all the materials the first time we meet to ensure you are not missing items.

Some materials can be replaced but if multiple items are lost you may be charged for a new kit. A new kit costs $49.
09
How long does it take to see results?
Success of myofunctional therapy is completely dependent on you. It is extremely important to work on exercises and mindfulness outside of therapy sessions.
